It took about 5 years of work, but we finally did it! We were just awarded the patent for Airship To Orbit.

Congratulations! You are making history. Keep going.
Fantastic! I would love nothing more than see that beotch flying overhead at night! (except to actually be on that beotch!).
I would not be surpised if you could see it during the day!
Congratulations, you can sue either Lockheed or Grumman now for having a giant Airship that infringes on your patents…
Congrats. This is great news. I’ve been following you guys since the CATS Prize. Enjoy hearing your progress updates. This is a biggie.
It has been a lot of years JP. You dreamed it and now it is yours. Mazel Tov!
congrats JP! You have an awesome plan.
Congratulations! I am looking forward to the actually launch vehicle, and the floating station. Models are great, and the research is necessary, but the day JP Aerospace actually puts a crew into near-space with a functional ascender vehicle is the day I’ll be truly glad. Heck, I’ll apply for a job on the station…. Good job, and good luck guys/gals.
wow, nice! here’s text: http://www.google.com/patents?id=V_DJAAAAEBAJ&printsec=description&zoom=4#v=onepage&q&f=true
I’m surprised they didn’t require detailed information like cross-sections and propulsion for the airfoil on the orbiter; seems like much of the negative criticism I’ve heard for ATO stems from the orbital dynamics and drag, etc, required to reach orbital velocity. I believe the PTO requires an invention to be “operable” to be allowed; did you have to prove the viability of the system in some way?
