The vision of these projects is quite exciting. It’s easy to underestimate the potential of ion thrust engines when your mind is focused on the speeds of chemical propulsion so for a long time I didn’t think much about ion thrust technology news. That has certainly changed. The idea of slow accent is one of those head-slapping ideas when you wonder why it was not obvious before it was.

But I was wondering, has anyone written anything addressing what challenges might arise from having the Dark Sky Station parked within the ozone layer? I know that the ozone isn’t at high pressure up there but would there not still be some chemical or electrical problems that would need to be addressed? I didn’t see anything like that when I searched the official forum page for JP Aerospace.

    Thanks

    What are these?

Are they a replacement for pong-sats?

I guess they are a response to the popularity of Cubesats. Maybe there could be space battles between minicubes and pongsats, reminiscent of Terrahawks!
