The last few days have been filled with a little bit of everything. Two more handles got mounted in the crew module. The maple bar landing gear was finished and installed on the Pup. We decided to replace all the wheel hardware so it will still be a bit before she’s back on her legs. All the electrodes on the MHD units have been cleaned. However, mainly it’s been desk work. I’ve been submitting proposals and talking with sponsors. Spaceships get build in the shop, but they get paid for at the desk.
Thanks for the update and the reminder of the boring funding reality.
Independently wealthy would be so much easier.
“Independently wealthy would be so much easier.”
For a little while, sure, but without the desk work to ensure the company makes money, he’d be independently poor in short order.
I think the only way to make this work is for the development to be a funding source. For some organizations the development is the giant hole that they are pouring money into. It just become a question of do they fill the hole before the money runs out. If your R and D is a funding source, In other words you make a business case and make it work for every mission you fly and every test you do, the hole goes away. On top of that if you pull it off you will be very very good this business.
We are not always successful at this but that how we’ve been working it so far. Although sometimes I think the independently wealthy idea wouldn’t be so bad…
