It's easy to underestimate the potential of ion thrust engines when your mind is focused on the speeds of chemical propulsion so for a long time I didn't think much about ion thrust technology news. That has certainly changed. The idea of slow accent is one of those head-slapping ideas when you wonder why it was not obvious before it was. But I was wondering, has anyone written anything addressing what challenges might arise from having the Dark Sky Station parked within the ozone layer? I know that the ozone isn't at high pressure up there but would there not still be some chemical or electrical problems that would need to be addressed?
